Jovia Apio joins Sinapis Uganda as a programs associate with five years of experience working in the nonprofit sector. Having served in community development positions, Jovia firmly believes in the power of entrepreneurship as a critical pathway to economic opportunity for low-income communities.
Before joining Sinapis, Jovia worked with individuals as a Program Officer at Urban Refugees, supporting refugees with cash-based assistance and within a capacity-building program that empowers refugee-led organizations to respond better in times of crisis.
As the Project Officer at Africa Educational Trust, Jovia supported the finance department and coordinated projects that improved student science learning outcomes in the post-conflict areas of northern Uganda.
Passionate about social justice, Jovia worked as an Education Support Fellow at Building Tomorrow in western Uganda. She trained a network of primary teachers to model the best teaching practices in her four placement schools.
Ultimately, Jovia is excited to be at the frontlines of supporting entrepreneurs in maximizing the value of their ventures while impacting the lives of the communities around them. She has a bachelor's degree in commerce from Makerere University Business School and has recently completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from the Uganda Management Institute.
