Rwanda

Sinapis considered expansion to Rwanda early on in its process of finding and building partnerships. Following the launch in Uganda, Sinapis decided to move into Rwanda to cement the “East Africa Innovation Hub” concept. These three countries provide the testing ground for Sinapis to perfect and showcase its tools and operating model for other partners in our global network.

While close in proximity to Kenya and Uganda, Rwanda is quite a different market, with a strong pro-entrepreneurship directive from the government and significant international funding, but a younger, lower-income, and overall less entrepreneurial market. These differences in operating context have enabled us to test our assumptions and change strategy where needed to best deliver our programs, and we are still in the process of determining the best path forward.

We launched our first Academy course in Kigali in February 2019 following six months of market research and soon pivoted to focusing on the Aspire Launchpad. While we have not officially opened an office, we have hired local staff and trainers to deliver our programs.

"Sinapis has hugely contributed to our business's growth, sustainability, and success. They have helped link us to potential investors/funding opportunities, publicized our business to the market, and provided ongoing strategic advice."

I would never have imagined that just over a year later I would be speaking on the biggest stage - TED. May this be a testimony that Kingdom business has a benefit here and in Heaven."
