PROVISION: Sustenance in Every Stitch

When floods tore through her home in Nairobi, Kenya, in April 2024, Anne lost everything—furniture, clothing, even her children’s school supplies. But when she arrived at work the next day, her employer, Home254 Apparel, responded not with pity but with provision.

“They gave me clothes. They gave my children clothes. They gave us food and money until we could get back on our feet,” Anne says. “I’ve never worked anywhere that felt like family until now.”

Before joining Home254 Apparel, Anne was stuck in short-term contract jobs. A friend introduced her to the company, and after a successful interview, she became a full-time tailor. For the first time in years, she had consistent income—enough to cover rent, pay school fees, and begin dreaming of a future for her family. Her oldest daughter is now preparing to attend university.

Anne is one of many employees whose lives have improved thanks to stability and support they found in Home254 Apparel. That culture of provision is no accident—it’s the result of a vision shaped by Sinapis’ Ascent program.

Job Brian Jura, the founder of Home254 Apparel, joined Ascent during a season of growth and uncertainty. “The cost structure module alone changed how I run the business,” he says. “We learned how to pay our people well and still remain profitable.” Thanks to that insight, Home254 Apparel tailors now earn 1.5 times the industry average.

But Ascent did more than help Job Brian build systems—it reshaped his leadership. “Before, I wanted to be liked. Now, I know how to lead with both heart and accountability,” Job Brian says. Employees are given real opportunities to grow. A former intern now leads the marketing team. Another staff member, after requesting a role change, now oversees customer service—and has helped recover over 60% of lost clients.

When the company faced a prolonged fabric shortage due to shipping delays, it didn’t lay off any employees. “If you’re part of this family, we protect you,” Job Brian says. “Provision isn’t just about income—it’s about stability, dignity, and care.”

Today, Anne walks into work with peace of mind and pride. Knowing her employers see her as a whole person inspires her to work hard for them and for her family’s bright future.
