Sinapis partnered with a group of individuals in Burundi to start the Sinapis Aspire Launchpad in late 2020. Sinapis was connected with this group of missionally-aligned business people in Burundi through other connections in the faith-based microfinance space. The partnership officially joined with CUFORE in 2022. CUFORE (Centre Universitaire de Formation et Recherche en Entrepreneuriat) is part of the Universite Lumiere of Bujumbura, a Christian university that has been building leaders for over 30 years in Burundi. The team is committed to seeing Kingdom entrepreneurs in Burundi grow and thrive in a difficult business environment in one of Africa’s poorest countries.

Many entrepreneurs have graduated from the Aspire Launchpad in Burundi. Half of these graduates take the program in French, and half take it in English. The team in Burundi will continue to use both versions to reach entrepreneurs in the capital city of Bujumbura.

“Businesses develop countries. They unlock talents and skills, creating jobs and wealth. Microfinance and other development initiatives are doing a tremendous job to untie those at the bottom of the pyramid to begin their upward movement, but more support is needed to move these heroes into the formal economy. A vibrant small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector made up of the middle class has the ability to initiate the positive and lasting transformations that our society desperately needs, allowing us to definitively overcome the battle against poverty.”

"Sinapis has hugely contributed to our business's growth, sustainability, and success. They have helped link us to potential investors/funding opportunities, publicized our business to the market, and provided ongoing strategic advice."
