Costa Maria Kalanda

Coastal Region Manager

Costa serves as the Coastal Region Manager at Sinapis, where she oversees growth and operations across the six coastal regions while supporting partners within the Sinapis Network across Africa. She previously spearheaded mobilization efforts for Sinapis’ Go Blue project, which successfully trained 570 blue economy entrepreneurs.

With 15 years of experience in international development, Costa is deeply passionate about fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems and building the capacity of African entrepreneurs through community-building and strategic resource connections. Before joining Sinapis, Costa served at Possibilities Africa, where she developed strategies that expanded the organization’s reach across Eastern and Southern Africa. She played a key role in providing training and mentorship to local leadership teams while driving efforts in fundraising and partnership development.

Costa runs a youth mentorship initiative in Mombasa and serves as a consultant and trainer with various development agencies. She holds a Master’s Degree in International Development from the University of Birmingham and is a member of the Mashav Network, having received training at the Weitz Development Centre in Rehovot, Israel. She also holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Moi University.
